I Will Conquer You, P90X

by Erik Wennerstrom on April 12, 2010

As those who know me know, I like to live a healthy lifestyle and have gotten into running and triathlons in the last few years. While I have accomplished some things that I never thought I would, finishing a marathon and completing a triathlon to name a couple, there is one thing I have yet to accomplish that is eating away at me. I have tried three times but have yet to finish a full round of P90X.

For those who do not know what P90X is, watch the video and you will get the picture. I would like to think I was ahead of the pack in jumping on the P90X bandwagon as I purchased it in early 2008. That was before the influx of celebrities and athletes started to attribute their new body transformations to P90X and I got a lot of strange looks when I mentioned it. Today, I am more likely to be asked how far through the program I am and share a collective groan with others about yoga day, which seems to be everyone’s least favorite.

The fact that I may have had the DVD’s before anyone else doesn’t mean a thing, however, unless I finish the progam! I got through the first 30 days and lost 13 pounds before but something always comes up to throw me off track (travel, illness, etc). I started my latest round today and, while sore, I am pumped and excited as I embark on it again.

So, what is going to make this round different from the others and make me think I will finish?

Here is why:

  • I just publicly stated I would and can’t hide from anyone
  • I will post regular updates here to keep me on track
  • Beach season is coming
  • A good friend of mine has completed two rounds of the program and rubs it in every chance she gets. She is moving the end of June to another state and I am determined to finish one round before she goes

There you have it. I have set my sights on the albatross that has been plaguing me and look for the status updates and pictures to come.

My Big Three for 2010

January 3, 2010

A year ago, I came across a great post by Chris Brogan where he describes his annual exercise of coming up with three words for each new year that he uses as guidance for everything he does in that year.  I decided to do my own words for 2009 and I will say that I [...]

Are Your Web Analytics Stuck in 1999?

November 8, 2009

“How many hits did we get?” Whenever, I hear that question it is just like nails scraping a chalkboard and chills go up my spine. Out of all the intelligence that is available on websites today, there are people still stuck on the metric that ruled the dot-com era when it was all about eyeballs [...]

Five Components of a Corporate Social Media Strategy

November 2, 2009

Repeat after me, setting up a Twitter account is not a social media strategy. Neither is setting up a Facebook page. Rather, both of these are pieces of a larger strategy that doesn’t focus on or revolve around one specific tool or technology.
I have spent the last couple of months researching and exploring the world [...]
